Venus Williams and Louisa Chirico will square off in the second round of the 2016 French Open.

Venus Williams is coming off a straight sets win over Anett Kontaveit that took 26 games to decide. In the victory, Venus won 71 percent of her first serve points and 37 percent of her second serve points. Venus was able to use her experience to her advantage by winning both sets in tiebreaks. The problem is that Venus continues to struggle with her service game, and she had 26 unforced errors and 24 winners. Consistency continues to be an issue for Venus, who will turn 36 next month, but she still finds ways to win matches she probably shouldn’t. Venus has reached the third round of a grand slam in five of her last seven appearances.

Louisa Chirico is coming off a three set win over Lauren Davis that took 30 games to decide. In the victory, Chirico won 57 percent of her first serve points and 44 percent of her second serve points. Chirico was able to win a third set that took 14 games after the first two sets weren’t competitive on either side. Chirico is looking to build off that semifinals appearance in the Madrid Masters and pick up the biggest victory of her young career. This is the first time Chirico has reached the second round of a grand slam and just her third appearance overall. Chirico has to play cleaner tennis in order to advance, as she had 48 unforced errors and wasn’t good at all with her service game in the opening match.

This will be the first time these two will meet on the tennis court.

I’m really hesitant when it comes to backing Venus, as her struggles with her service game and the constant errors scare the hell out of me. Chirico is playing some of her best tennis at 20 years old and has a chance to really make a statement as an up-and-coming American.

I’m going to call the upset and predict Chirico to win this match.
