Venus Williams and Yaroslava Shvedova square off in the quarterfinals of the 2016 Wimbledon.

Venus Williams is coming off a straight sets win over Carla Suarez Navarro that took an hour and a half. In the victory, Venus won 26 of 40 first serve points and racked up 24 winners and 20 unforced errors. Venus may be coming off her best performance of the tournament as she made all the big shots needed in order to avoid a third set. Venus is winning at least 65 percent of her first serve points and has 59 winners in her last two matches. Venus can advance easily if she trims her unforced error total. Venus looks for her first grand slam semifinal since the 2010 US Open. Venus has won seven of her last eight matches on grass.

Yaroslava Shvedova is coming off a straight sets win over Lucie Safarova that took an hour and a half. In the victory, Shvedova won 29 of 36 first serve points and racked up 26 winners and 10 unforced errors. Shvedova has been the clear surprise of the tournament with two victories over top-30 players and reaching her third grand slam quarterfinal. Shvedova has produced 39 winners in her last two matches and has won no less than 77 first serve points in three of her four matches. Shvedova hopes to make her first grand slam semifinal appearance. Shvedova has won five of her last six matches on grass.

This will be the first time these two meet on the tennis court.

I’m always scared to back Venus due to her high unforced errors total, but experience will be the difference in this match. Shvedova hasn’t been in this position often and Venus is hungry to make a deep grand slam run for the first time in a while.

I like Venus in three sets.
