The Phoenix Mercury and Indiana Fever meet Sunday in WNBA action at the Bankers Life Fieldhouse.
The Phoenix Mercury look for their first road victory to get back to a .500 record. The Phoenix Mercury are averaging 70 points on 44.2 percent shooting and allowing 73 points on 40.5 percent shooting. DeWanna Bonner is averaging 22.7 points and 3.3 assists while Brittney Griner is averaging 13.3 points and seven rebounds. Essence Carson is grabbing two rebounds and Yvonne Turner is dishing 4.7 assists. The Phoenix Mercury are shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 87.5 percent from the free throw line. The Phoenix Mercury are allowing 38.8 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 29.7 rebounds per game. The Phoenix Mercury have lost five of their last seven road games.
The Indiana Fever look for another home victory to build on their 3-1 record. The Indiana Fever are averaging 82.2 points on 46 percent shooting and allowing 77.2 points on 38.8 percent shooting. Erica Wheeler is averaging 14.5 points and 7.3 assists while Tiffany Mitchell is averaging 13.8 points and 4.5 rebounds. The Mercury are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games playing on 2 days rest, 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 road games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Fever are 5-15 ATS in their last 20 home games, 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 1 days rest and 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games overall. The Mercury are 5-0 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Indiana and 7-1 ATS in the last 8 meetings. The over is 5-1 in Fever last 6 overall. The over is 7-3-1 in Mercury last 11 road games.
The Indiana Fever have been one of the bigger surprises up to this point, as they're the same scrappy bunch from past years, but they've found some offense all of a sudden. I'll be watching the Fever closely these next couple of weeks. With that said, the Mercury have won seven of the last eight meetings against the Fever and have played better in their last two games. If the Mercury are who I think they are, they win this contest on the road. I'll lay the bucket.
