The Connecticut Sun and Las Vegas Aces meet Sunday in WNBA action at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
The Connecticut Sun look for their first road win of the season to build on their 2-1 start. The Connecticut Sun are averaging 80.7 points on 39.7 percent shooting and allowing 74.3 points on 41.7 percent shooting. Jonquel Jones is averaging 17 points and 14.7 rebounds while Jasmine Thomas is averaging 14 points and five assists. Courtney Williams is the third double-digit scorer and Alyssa Thomas is grabbing 7.3 rebounds. The Connecticut Sun are shooting 33.8 percent from beyond the arc and 68.9 percent from the free throw line. The Connecticut Sun are allowing 24.6 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 42.7 rebounds per game. The Connecticut Sun have split their last six road games.
The Las Vegas Aces look for another home win to get a game above a .500 record. The Las Vegas Aces are averaging 83.5 points on 40.7 percent shooting and allowing 78 points on 42.9 percent shooting. Kayla McBride is averaging 17.5 points and 6.5 rebounds while A'ja Wilson is averaging 16 points and 10 rebounds. Liz Cambage is the third double-digit scorer and Dearica Hamby is grabbing 10 rebounds. The Las Vegas Aces are shooting 40 percent from beyond the arc and 78.6 percent from the free throw line. The Las Vegas Aces are allowing 41.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 41.5 rebounds per game. The Las Vegas Aces have split their last six home games.
The Sun are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games following a straight up loss and 5-11 ATS in their last 16 road games. The Aces are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 Sunday games, 1-5-1 ATS in their last 7 games playing on 1 days rest and 14-6 ATS in their last 20 vs. Eastern Conference. The Sun are 4-1-1 ATS in the last 6 meetings in Las Vegas and 8-3-1 ATS in the last 12 meetings. The under is 4-0-1 in Aces last 5 home games. The under is 9-4 in Sun last 13 road games.
I'm on the Las Vegas Aces bandwagon as much as the next guy, but this feels like too many points to lay against an explosive Connecticut Sun squad that shoots well from everywhere on the floor and is currently the best rebounding team in the league. And while Las Vegas is a different team from years past, the Sun have won nine of the last 10 meetings against the Aces, including the last meeting where they dropped 109 points on 59.7 percent shooting. I'm just not comfortable laying this many points in a game that's likely going to be back and forth and very high scoring. The points should come in handy.
