|Date & Time||Thursday August 2, 2018, 10:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Los Angeles Sparks +1.5 -- Over/Under: 153.5
The Minnesota Lynx and Los Angeles Sparks meet Thursday in WNBA action at the Staples Center.
The Minnesota Lynx look for a big road victory here after winning 10 of their last 14 games. The Minnesota Lynx are averaging 79.4 points on 44.4 percent shooting and allowing 76.9 points on 43.6 percent shooting. Maya Moore is averaging 18.2 points and 2.5 assists while Sylvia Fowles is averaging 17.1 points and 11.7 rebounds. Seimone Augustus is the third double-digit scorer and Rebekkah Brunson is grabbing 7.4 rebounds. The Minnesota Lynx are shooting 34.3 percent from beyond the arc and 78.2 percent from the free throw line. The Minnesota Lynx are allowing 31.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 36 rebounds per game. The Minnesota Lynx have won five of their last six road games.
The Los Angeles Sparks could use a feel good victory here after losing eight of their last 12 games. The Los Angeles Sparks are averaging 79.5 points on 46.3 percent shooting and allowing 77.5 points on 44.9 percent shooting. Candace Parker is averaging 18 points and 4.8 assists while Nneka Ogwumike is averaging 16.1 points and 7.4 rebounds. Chelsea Gray is the third double-digit scorer and Odyssey Sims is dishing three assists. The Los Angeles Sparks are shooting 34.7 percent from beyond the arc and 81.7 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Sparks are allowing 30.3 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 30.7 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles Sparks have lost five straight home games.
The Lynx are 6-1 ATS in their last 7 vs. Western Conference, 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games and 12-5 ATS in their last 17 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Sparks are 8-2 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 3 or more days rest, 0-5 ATS in their last 5 home games and 4-9 ATS in their last 13 games overall. The Lynx are 3-7 ATS in the last 10 meetings and the under is 9-3 in the last 12 meetings.
You can't make a logical case for the Los Angeles Sparks in this game given how awful they've played over the last month and the fact Alana Beard and Nneka Ogwumike are questionable. The Minnesota Lynx should be favored in this game. However, this is a rivarly, and the home team has won six of the last nine meetings between the Lynx and Sparks. The Sparks have also won six of the last 10 meetings against the Lynx. If there is any game that's going to get the Sparks back on track and bring back the team we expected to see this season, it's this one. I'll take a shot with the home team here.
