The New York Liberty and Minnesota Lynx meet Saturday in WNBA action at the Target Center.
The New York Liberty look for a statement victory here after splitting their last six games. The New York Liberty are averaging 78.8 points on 42.5 percent shooting and allowing 81.1 points on 43.4 percent shooting. Tina Charles is averaging 21.9 points and 7.3 rebounds while Kia Nurse is averaging 13.1 points and 2.3 assists. Shavonte Zellous is grabbing 3.1 rebounds and Bria Hartley is dishing four assists. The New York Liberty are allowing 32.9 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 33 rebounds per game. The New York Liberty have split their last two road games.
The Minnesota Lynx also need a feel good victory here after losing five of their last six games. The Minnesota Lynx are averaging 77.7 points on 43.7 percent shooting and allowing 80.4 points on 45.2 percent shooting. Maya Moore is averaging 17.6 points and 1.7 assists while Sylvia Fowles is averaging 17.1 points and 12.1 rebounds. The Liberty are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 games playing on 2 days rest. The Lynx are 1-4 ATS in their last 5 Saturday games, 1-4 ATS in their last 5 vs. Eastern Conference and 1-8 ATS in their last 9 games overall. The Liberty are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 meetings in Minnesota, 8-3 ATS in the last 11 meetings and the over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings in Minnesota.
I'm not trying to back either one of these teams right now, as the Liberty are hit or miss and haven't played well on the road this season. The Lynx don't look like the Lynx that consistently compete for titles, as this club is a mess at both ends of the court right now. However, you have to have more confidence in the Lynx turning things around than what the Liberty have to offer, and it's likely going to take place at home. So, while I won't touch this game, I'd side with the Lynx if forced to pick.
