The Los Angeles Sparks and New York Liberty meet Tuesday in WNBA action at the Westchester County Center.
The Los Angeles Sparks look for their first road win of the season to get a game above a .500 record. The Los Angeles Sparks are averaging 73.5 points on 37.6 percent shooting and allowing 76.5 points on 36.2 percent shooting. Maria Vadeeva is averaging 24 points and five rebounds while Nneka Ogwumike is averaging 18 points and 13 rebounds. Chelsea Gray is dishing four assists and Chiney Ogwumike is grabbing 6.5 rebounds. The Los Angeles Sparks are shooting 33.3 percent from beyond the arc and 80 percent from the free throw line. The Los Angeles Sparks are allowing 27 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 39.5 rebounds per game. The Los Angeles Sparks have lost their last five road games.
The New York Liberty look for their first win of the season after a rough 0-2 start. The New York Liberty are averaging 78.5 points on 37.2 percent shooting and allowing 86.5 points on 47 percent shooting. Tina Charles is averaging 23.5 points and 9.5 rebounds while Kia Nurse is averaging 13 points and two assists. Reshanda Gray is the third double-digit scorer and Asia Durr is dishing 1.5 assists. The New York Liberty are shooting 31.6 percent from beyond the arc and 77.1 percent from the free throw line. The New York Liberty are allowing 35.7 percent shooting from deep and are grabbing 39.5 rebounds per game. The New York Liberty have lost their last six home games.
The Sparks are 2-5 ATS in their last 7 road games, 2-8 ATS in their last 10 games following a ATS win and 10-3 ATS in their last 13 games playing on 3 or more days rest. The Liberty are 3-7 ATS in their last 10 games playing on 2 days rest, 6-15 ATS in their last 21 Tuesday games and 1-5 ATS in their last 6 home games. The under is 9-4 in the last 13 meetings in New York and 26-12 in the last 38 meetings. The over is 9-4 in Liberty last 13 overall. The under is 48-23 in Sparks last 71 overall.
I'm not sure why oddsmakers aren't releasing WNBA lines the day before like years past, but it hurts us a ton in this extremely early start. There's no point in waiting for a line to come out around 10 in the morning when the game starts at 11. So, I'll throw something together with no line available. The New York Liberty have been horrible shooting wise to start the season and the Sparks have bigs who can make life tough on Charles. Unless others step up for the Liberty, this is going to be a long game. With that said, a morning start for a west coast team on the east coast is brutal. Assuming the Sparks are favored, I'd lean towards the Liberty and the points simply due to the schedule spot.
