The Penrith Panthers take on the New Zealand Warriors in the second game of NRL Round 4 at Campbeltown Stadium.
Penrith are off a gruelling 90min battle vs the Newcastle Knights that resulted with scores deadlocked at the end of extra time. A quick start saw the Panthers jump out to a 14-0 lead but they failed to score after the 24th minute mark. They lead the game in completion rate 84%, Possession 59%, line breaks, offloads and post contact metres. Josh Mansour on the flank topped the run metres with 314 and Villiame Kikau contributed 2 line breaks and a try. Debutant half Matt Burton failed to land the winning field goal going 0/5.
In their last start vs the Dragons, the New Zealand Warriors produced one of the most complete performances from any team in recent history. Not only did they manage to blank a potent Dragons offence they complete 46 of 48 sets, setting a new NRL record. Kodi Nikorima had a big game managing 2 line breaks, a try and went 3/4 with his goal kicking. Warriors will also welcome back Poasa Faamausili, Lachlan Burr and outside back David Fusitu’a.
I am going to put the Warriors round 3 performance down as an anomaly. I cannot see them producing that kind of offensive output against a much more stout defence like the one they will face here in the Panthers. Panthers will look to stay unbeaten and I can see them easily covering the number in this one.
