The Melbourne Storm will look to bounce back here in Friday’s clash with the South Sydney Rabbitohs. Rabbitohs are coming off a tough outing against last year’s premiers the Roosters and will look to get back in the win column.
The Storm have had the Rabbitohs number since their introduction into the NRL in 1998 winning 26 of their 31 meetings. It is expected that Melbourne will remain relatively unchanged for this clash with the only exception being Nelson Asofa-Solomona out due to suspension with his likely replacement, Tui Kamikamica set to return from injury. Last game out the Storm were uncharacteristically forced into mistakes and lacked the ability to execute at critical moments.
Cody Walker serves the second game of his two game suspension so will be out of this contest however, the Rabbits likely welcome back centre James Roberts, which will push Alex Johnson onto the edge. Despite the gap in the final score, the Rabbitohs remained competitive for much of the match against the Roosters. In order to shut down this Melbourne line-up they need to focus on slowing down the play the ball and limiting second phase play.
Given the fact that Melbourne have been held in check offensively so far this season I like the Rabbitohs catching more than a converted try. Storm rank 13th in the league in points scored so far this year with an average of 12 per game. Ranking 12th in line breaks and 13th in offloads there has not been a whole lot of offensive production from the Storm. Given this, I like the Rabbitohs +6.5 points.
