Friday sees two teams who are yet to face defeat this NRL season do battle in the Parramatta Eels and the Penrith Panthers.
The Eels are coming off a narrow escape against Manly where they managed to survive 19-16 while the Panthers convincingly took care of the Warriors 26-0.
Parramatta have been very strong on both sides of the ball this season. They have a well-rounded roster comprised of both youth, experience in skilled positions, and are well coached. In the win over Manly, they showed great composure to weather the late Sea Eagles surge and with the help of an officiating decision managed to get the job done. Eels managed 81% completion, which highlights the respect they have for the ball but alarmingly missed 45 tackles, and committed 12 errors, mistakes they can ill-afford against this Panthers side.
Panthers took care of the Warriors in convincing fashion in their last game. In a boost representative halfback Nathan Cleary returns from a 2-game suspension. Matt Burton crossed in the 11th and again in the 22nd min in a solid performance. Edge second-row Villiame Kikou had another big game down the left-hand side setting up a great try.
This should be one of the games of the round and I like the Panthers to do enough here to keep it close. These teams on paper match up pretty well with size in the middle, skilful/experienced halves and fire power out wide. I like Penrith here to really test the Eels and stay inside of the number.
