NRL Rugby League – Line Knights -6.5/Broncos +6.5
NRL round 6 gets underway with the Newcastle Knights and the Brisbane Broncos doing battle at Central Coast Stadium on Thursday.
Brisbane are coming off a 20-18 loss vs Manly in round 5. The Broncos started the game off very well, quickly running out to an 18-0 lead. However, they failed to score after the 31st minute as Manly fought their way back into the contest. Brisbane managed 25 tackle busts, 2 line breaks and 641 post contact metres in the loss but gave away an alarming 12 penalties and committed 10 errors. Patrick Carrigan got through 51 tackles while Payne Hass lead the offense in the middle with 191 post contact metres.
Knights found themselves down 18-2 at halftime and struggled to get opportunities against a very good Storm goal line defence. Knights have had their best success down the left hand side of the field this season and that continued in this one with both Edrick Lee and Bradman Best finding the try line. Kalyn Ponga tried to punch his way through the line several times but the Storm cover defence cut him down every time.
This should be a good contest but I will go with the Knights here. Broncos stocks are low and they are not really presenting a united front. I like what I have seen coming out of the Hunter Valley and the Knights should bounce back in this one.
