Saturday NRL action gets underway with the Gold Coast Titans hosting the St George Dragons at Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.
Titans were beat 32-12 in their last start vs the South Sydney Rabbitohs. They struggled to get good clearance from their kicking game managing just 434 metres from 22 kicks; in comparison, the Rabbitohs had 640 metres from 21 kicks. Defensively the Titans missed 36 tackles and produce 16 errors, which as a result saw them struggle to produce any pressure. Moeaki Fotuaika lead the team in tackles with 43 while Brian Kelly managed 159 run metres. Titans currently have a -103 point differential, the worst in the league.
Dragons registered their first win of the year last week with a comprehensive 30-16 victory over the Sharks. Sharks drew first blood in the contest and after 20mins looked in control with a 10-6 lead, however, after this point the game was relatively one-way traffic with the Dragons running in a further 4 converted tries. Ben Hunt moved in to the Dummy-Half role and produced a great solo try on the stroke of halftime and as a team; Dragons completed 88% of their sets. Cameron McInnes and Paul Vaughan lead the team in the middle with 52 tackles and 204 run metres respectively.
For me this is a play on the Dragons or a pass. The Titans have arguably the worst roster in the league and while they have shown some fight in passages I think, the Dragons will come into this one full of confidence.
