Two of the NRL’s heavyweights do battle to round out Saturday’s NRL action with the Sydney Roosters taking on the Parramatta Eels.
Parramatta overcame a slow start against Penrith to keep their perfect season intact. Trailing 10-0 after 60mins the Eels exploding over a 6-minute window running in 16 unanswered points. Waqa Blake, Clint Gutherson and Ryan Matterson were among the try scorers as the Eels second phase attack sprung into action. Eels managed 15 offloads and a whopping 38 tackle breaks in the performance. What has been most impressive I feel is the ways the Eels have handled themselves in high-pressure situations; they will no doubt be a tough out all season long.
Roosters have done a great job since returning from the break with 3 solid victories. Roosters half Kyle Flanagan has done a good job replacing retired veteran halfback Cooper Cronk. With a strong blend of size, speed and experience Roosters will no doubt go deep into the finals once again this year. Significant depth in playmaking ranks and without the disruption of State of Origin This Sydney side will be a force to reckon with again.
Roosters are the favourite here and for good reason. They have looked very strong since the season return with 3 convincing victories. While it is tempting to take the team atop of the ladder some question marks have come about this Eels team of late and I think this will be the game they come unstuck.
