NRL Rugby League – Line Sharks -4.5/Bulldogs +4.5
The last game of NRL round 6 sees the Canterbury Bulldogs take on the Cronulla Sharks as both teams will look to bounce back after a disappointing result in their respective round 5 games.
Sharks looked good early before being torched by the Dragons by a final margin of 30-16. In the loss, the Sharks managed just 74% completion courtesy of 15 handling errors. The game recorded a huge 81 tackle breaks with the advantage going to the Dragons 46/35. Despite so many tackle breaks, the Sharks managed just 8 offloads and 485 post contact metres which made it difficult for their attack to get a roll on. Sharks have been reasonably sound defensively this year and I think they will make the necessary adjustments and relish the chance to play a much weaker offense.
Bulldogs have looked much better since the return of five-eighth Keiran Foran but they have still struggled in offensive production. They rank dead last in the competition in points scored but have been very successful defensively. Bulldogs have a lot of size and experience upfront with Josh Jackson, Dylan Napa and Aidan Tolman; however, these players have a tendency to bend, not break, opponent’s defensive line.
I think that given the inefficiency of the bulldogs attack and the fact that both teams have shown ability to limit opponents scoring opportunities that the best play in this game is to take the total to go under.
