The second game of the round sees the Melbourne Storm play host to the New Zealand Warriors at AAMI Park.
Melbourne fell short in their round 6 clash vs the Penrith Panthers by a final score of 21-14. Storm edged ahead in the 59th minute but a very soft, uncontested try to Panthers second rower Villiame Kikau in the 62nd minute was too much to overcome. Storm were outplayed for the majority of the game and committed 11 total team errors. Cameron Smith topped the tackle count with 43 while Brenko Lee and Ryan Papenhuyzen looked the most dangerous offensively. A step down in class should most certainly help build the teams confidence offensively.
The Warriors were belted in their round 6 clash with the Rabbitohs by a margin of 40-12. Has well and truly been a rollercoaster of a season for New Zealand which has seen them go from setting a new league record for single game completions, to getting blanked out by the Panthers, to scoring nearly 40 against the Cowboys and most recently having minimal success against the Warriors. The Warriors have shown brief glimpses of what they are capable of when dialled in but they have been few and far between.
Storm in this one without a question. While I have not loved what I have seen from the Storm with their attack they have played, a lot of very strong defences…I think they run riot and relish the step down in class opportunity against the hapless Warriors.
