The second game on Friday's NRL card sees the Parramatta Eels take on the North Queensland Cowboys.
Parramatta have been the form team of the completion to this point. While luck has certainly gone their way in some of the close contests in which they have featured they have been very strong. They have been getting great production out of their forward pack which has helped Mitchell Moses set his backline up on scoring Raiders. Clint Gutherson kicked the match winning field goal in the overtime win over Canberra and he looks to stack his claim for representative honours at the end of the season.
Cowboys are off a huge upset over the Knights in round 7 winning 32-20. Four out of the seven players in the Cowboys backline crossed the line for a try in the win and as a team they produced 4 line breaks, 26 tackle busts and 8 offloads. Reece Robson lead the tackle count for the Cowboys with 50 while Jason Taumalolo had a game high 297 run metres. After a 20-0 first half score line the Cowboys survived a second half surge from the Knights to record their 3rd win of the season.
Cowboys have been a headache to try and figure out this season...Just when they looked to have turned the corner something happens and their apple cart collapses. I have to go with the Eels laying the points purely on the premise of constancy.
