The Wests Tigers and Penrith Panthers round out Saturday's round 8 action as they face off at Bankwest Stadium
After the league stoppage all of the NRL teams have a few matches under the belts and should be prepared to be playing their best rugby once again. We have a matchup heree between two teams with winning records in what should be a solid rugby match.
Tigers looked very sharp in their last game against the Bulldogs with a 28 point 34-6 victory. The Tigers ran in 7 tries in the victory but Moses Mbye managed just 3/7 with the boot. Tigers had a whopping 60% of possession and completed 81% of their sets. As a team they punched through the Bulldogs line on 5 occasions and recorded 32 tackle busts and a solid 19 offloads. Harry Grant recorded 45 tackles while David Nofoaluma had 216 run metres and two second half tries.
Penrith have been very strong all season long. Allowing just 98 points across their 7 games this year ranks them 5th in the league in scoring defence. in their last game they snuck past the South Sydney Rabbitohs by a final score of 20-12. Nathan Cleary had a big game in the win and Apisai Koroisau lead the team in tackles with 52 and James Fisher-Harris got his hands dirty with 248 run metres.
Penrith are the play for me here. I think the Tigers have been playing well but I still hold a question mark on their defence against elite teams.
