Friday NRL action gets underway with the Gold Coast Titans hosting the New Zealand Warriors at Cbus Super Stadium.
The Gold Coast Titans had no answers in their 40-10 loss at the hands of the Cronulla Sharks. Defensively they gave up 7 tries, 8-line breaks and a massive 44 tackle busts. Offensively the Titans looked much better than the score line indicated producing 45 tackle busts of their own and 45 tackle breaks. The Gold Coast Titans fell down in the area of post contact metres, struggling to bend the Cronulla Sharks defence.
The New Zealand Warriors are coming off an impressive come-from-behind win over the Brisbane Broncos. Trailing 10-0 after the first 30mins the Warriors fought back into the contest scoring 5 tries. As a team New Zealand managed a 82% completion rate and broke the Broncos line 5 times. Throughout the course of the 80 mins the Warriors showed excellent discipline giving up just 1 penalty. Ken Maumalo had a big game out wide with 291 run metres, 2 tries and 2-line breaks while Tohu Harris led New Zealand in tackles with 51.
Neither team is having the season they had hoped to have and wins have been tough to come by. I think this is a good spot for the Titans to chalk up a rare win. Titans have shown snippets of brilliance over the last couple of weeks, even though their record might not indicate it. Give me the home team here in a match the oddsmakers see as a toss up.
