Fulham got off to the perfect start this season going to Sunderland and winning on the opening day. Martin Jol has been busy in the transfer market this summer bringing in nine players and one of these, young swiss midfielder Kasami netted the winner against Sunderland. The addition of Darren Bent, Adel Taarabt and Scotty Parker has definitely strengthened the Cottagers panel this season and it will be interesting to see if Fulham can push for a place among the top half of the table. Dimitar Berbatov will provide the quality up front and if former Roma keeper Stekelenburg can continue to confound opposition strikers then this Fulham side would appear to have a really good balance across the field and a solid manager to boot. This season could prove to be one of the best in years at Craven Cottage.
Arsene Wenger will come into this game with a little pressure off his shoulders after his side demolished Fenerbache midweek in their Champions League qualifier. The Gunners, having lost to Aston Villa on opening day, were being written off left right and center by the media and Wenger in particular was coming under enormous pressure to go and spend some money in the transfer market. Arsenal are still being linked to almost every player that hasnt moved club in the summer and the new rumours surround Karim Benzema and Angel Di Maria with Wenger purportedly interesting in bringing the Real Madrid duo to the Emirates in a big cash move. I’m more of a doubting thomas type and i will start to believe this” Arsenal want to spend” rumour when I see the big name players arrive. Until then though I’ll just concentrate on what Arsenal have. Which is a really solid unit with some exceptional playmakers in the middle and ridiculous pace on the wing. Giroud has started the season very well too 2 goals in 2 games for the frenchman and his all round play would appear to have improved from last season. Santi Cazorla , Aaron Ramsey and Jack Wilshire in my opinion is probably the best middle three in the league and if Arsenal can get Arteta back fit or find a defensive midfielder elsewhere then I think this three can cause serious problems for any team they face.
The season is early and I think that there still are some mistakes bound to happen in defences that are trying to get settled in. Fulham would appear on paper to have one of the most solid outfits in the league but pace is something they may struggle against and I think Walcott will find some joy in the early kickoff on Saturday. Equally up the other end Arsenal will be missing Lorent Koscielny who is suspended having been sent off against Aston Villa last weekend. I’m going to go with both teams to score in this one as I see both teams having the better offences here and while Arsenal may come away with the win i’m not prepared to go with that considering they did have a champions league game midweek and this will be their third game in seven days.
