Aston Villa have started the new season well, a win against Arsenal was followed up by a great performance midweek against Chelsea. Christian Benteke has continued on this year where he left off last year, scoring goals for fun. Paul Lambert had warned the rest of the Premier League than Benteke has improved in the off season and his warnings appear to be well founded as Benteke has netted three goals in three games, including a peach of a goal against Chelsea. But it is not just benteke that has been impressive for Aston Villa, the team on a whole are playing attractive football and look a solid cohesive unit at the back marshalled by Ron Vlaar and the excellent Brad Guzan in goals. Overall for my money Aston Villa have been one of the most impressive sides i've seen over the opening games and they play their first home game of the season on Saturday evening against Liverpool.
Interestingly for Liverpool fans although manager Brendan Rodgers keeps saying the club will not sell Luis Suarez rumours keep mounting that the club hierarchy want to do exactly that. Suarez will probably leave and go to Real Madrid and Liverpool will pocket £45million or there abouts, it will more than likely happen at the very end of the transfer window leaving Liverpool no chance of finding a quality replacement. But the reality is that Liverpool do not have the pulling power to buy a quality replacement right now and with £45million in their pockets and a solid squad the club may be in a far more attractive position in January to maybe purchase that quality signing and push for Champions League qualification. But getting back to this game and Liverpool have shown signs of improvement with Couthino, Sturridge looking a decent if not clinical partnership and with Gerrard behind patroling the middle Liverpool have the base to build a strong side. Having paid big money for Mignolet the reds received their first payback as the keeper stopped a penalty last weekend and looked very dependable overall despite a couple of early nervy moments.

If this wasnt Aston Villa's third game in seven days I would be all over a Villa win here but given that I think those two games will take a little something out of the Villa boys I am instead going to take Aston Villa double chance at 5/6. Liverpool while looking better against Stoke still struggled to put the ball in the net and I think that Villa are a better side than Stoke. I also think Christian Benteke will cause Liverpool alot of problems up front. While my big bet is on Villa double chance I recomment also having a small bet on Villa outright. This is the teams first home game and the atmosphere is sure to be magic , considering the poor seasons the Villa faithful have had to endure of late this bright start by their side will be enthusiastically greeted on Saturday.
