My first round up article of the season which will become a regular feature. I will give a pick on each game of the weekend although my strongest picks will be in the individual write ups there is always a gem or two among these round ups and this weekend's I have two which I really like.
Hull City vs Norwich City
An interesting game see's the newly promoted Hull take on Norwich City who had a terrific performance on the opening weekend drawing 2-2 with everton. Hull gave a good account of themselves against Chelsea and didnt disgrace themselves at all, manager Steve Bruce knows that his side must pick up points at home if they are to avoid relegation. Last season Norwich had a tough time away from Carrow Road and Chris Hughton has signed some exciting attacking talent in particular Van Wolfswinkel, Hooper and Johan Elmander. I like Norwich to give as good as they get here and I'm taking both teams to score.
Pick: Both teams to score
Stoke City vs Crystal Palace
Stoke will be looking to bounce back from a disappointing loss at Liverpool on the opening game of the season, a last minute penalty was missed by Johnaton Walters and Mark Hughes was denied a result against the reds. Stoke at times put some real pressure on a Liverpool rearguard that looked shaky at best. With Crouch, Walters and Kenwyne Jones Stoke have some real physical presence up front and at the Britannia they will look to impose themselves on the newly promoted Palace. Cyrstal Palace in their own right were good on the opening weekend really fighting against Tottenham and keeping it tight. Manager Ian Holloway has already got himself in trouble questioning officiating decisions and I think Palace will struggle if Holloway cant control his opinions. In this game I am going to take Stoke to get a win at home at a very generous 17/20.
Pick: Stoke to win
Southampton vs Sunderland
Southampton had a great win away to West Brom on opening weekend, England call up Rickie Lambert netted the winner and has capped off a terrific month for himself personally. Southampton have a manager in Pochettino who arrived in the Premier League with not much of a reputation but who is establishing himself as a thinking man's manager. Southampton have improved technically and tactically since the argentine's appointment and the Saints fans I have talked to are excited for the season ahead. Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio is an excitable sort, emotions are always on Di Canio's sleave and he lets it all out to be seen. Sunderland were very disappointing in the first league game against Fulham and I think the Italian manager will be looking for a response from his side this weekend.
Pick: Both teams to score
