New Manchester City manager Pelligrini found out just how competitive and tough the Premier League is when his side went down to newly promoted Cardiff City in their last game, City led the game 1-0 and were in control then suddenly an equaliser from nothing and a headed goal from a corner put Cardiff ahead 2-1, before City could settle it was suddenly 3-1 and although the team put in a spirited last 15 minutes they couldnt find the two goals they needed. With Eden Dzeko, Sergio Aguero and Negredo there is top class strikers on show for City but the problems they had against Cardiff were at the back where they really missed Vincent Kompany the City captain is out through injury and his loss is really being felt at the moment. Manchester City have a terrific home record and they will look to put the loss to Cardiff behind them when they host another newly promoted team in Hull.
Hull had a terrific win last week against Norwich when they played the entire second half with 10 men and still looked very solid defensively. Hull played quite well in their opening weekend defeat to Chelsea who won 2-0 but it was not impressive by Chelsea and the defensive effort by Hull was noted by this writer. Hull's manager Steve Bruce was a fantastic full blooded defender himself and his team appears to have taken a leaf out of his own playbook. Irish international Robbie Brady is providing a spark going forward, the former Manchester United starlet is a dead ball specialist and scored from the spot last weekend to ensure Hull's first points of the year.
Manchester City will be looking for a big performance when they return home to the Ethiad Stadium, Hull are newly promoted but have to this point in their short Premier League stay been excellant defensively, the game as a whole is a tough one to call. I've scoured the markets to try to find some value but for me the Bookmakers have done a good job here. I'm going to take Manchester City to be leading at half time/fulltime, the price isnt great at 8/15 but its a bet i'm confident City will deliver on. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
