Old Trafford on Champions League nights ,is a special place, it is very hard to describe in words and is definitely one of those things that soccer fans should try to experience in their lifetime whether they support United or not. On Tuesday Manchester United will start their 2013/2014 Champions League campaign and will be without Sir Alex Ferguson, another first for the club as since the inception of the Champions League Ferguson had been in charge. David Moyes has a tricky first tie facing German side Bayer Leverkusen who just happen to be managed by former Liverpool center half Sami Hyypia , who is sure to get a tasty welcome tomorrow night. Robin Van Persie and Wayne Rooney looked fluent and sharp on Saturday as both netted in a 2-0 victory in the league. United bounced back from a defeat to Liverpool by beating Crystal Palace on Saturday morning and the team will look to get a good start in the Champions League competition with a win at home on Tuesday night.
Bayer Leverkusen have had a terrific start to the Bundesliga, four wins from five games leave's Sami Hyypias men in third place in the league and his young side have started very well. Playing an attractive brand of football Bayer will come to Old Trafford with a very young side, including young german internationsals Bender , Kiebling and Sam. Taking the keepers out of the equation there is only two players over 30 in the Bayer Leverkusen squad, this is a very young side and may be a little nervous playing against a team like Manchester United in a huge Champions League game. Sam and Kiebling have netted four each in the opening five games and they will look to continue that great form on Tuesday.
A really tough opening game for Bayer Leverkusen see's them travel to England to take on Manchester United the Champions of England. I've looked at the over and over and tried to think about what I would be recommending if Alex Ferguson was still in charge, the truth is I would be jumping all over the 8/11 available about a home win, there is really no reason why I and you by extension should not be jumping all over that price right now. Leverkusen are a good side no doubt about it but Manchester United are a better side, United also have Ferdinand and captain Vidic at the back who will be solid as rocks on the big occasion. Up front though is where the gulf in class is in my opinion. Rooney and Van Persie is as good a Partnership as there is in any league and I am back ing them to fire Manchester Untied to victory tomorrow night. Take Manchester United to winat 8/11.
