Liverpool have started the new season exceptionally well and sit atop the Barclays Premier League with three wins and a draw. The reds come back to Anfield on Saturday for a tricky feature with a resolute Southampton team. Daniel Sturridge has had a terrific start to the Premier League season scoring four goals in four and the England striker will be hoping to continue that form especially with Philip Couthino out injured, alot of pressure will be on sturridge to provide goals at least until star player Luis Suarez returns from suspension. Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has to be happy with his side's start to the season but the important thing now will be for the Reds to continue this form an make a sustained push for a Champions League spot or even an unlikely tilt at the Premier League title.
Southampton come into this game off the back of a frustrating draw with West Ham United. Southampton dominated much of the game but couldnt find a way past Jussi Jaaskelinan who was in inspired form. But one thing has been evident in the four game's Southampton have played and that is that the Saints are well coached and defensively sound. In four games the Saints have only conceded two goals and have looked very solid at the back. Rickie Lambert the England striker is originally from Liverpool and would love nothing more than to score a goal at Anfield so that will be an interesting side story today.
All the signs here point to the under with both defences dominating so far this year, both teams have only conceded two goals in four games and both teams play a possession based game with Southampton also playing a high pressing game to put teams under pressure when in possession. I like the look of draw at half time here I think Southampton will be happy with a point from Anfield and I think they may just accomplish although Liverpool are in great form and it wouldnt surprise me if Liverpool nicked another 1-0 win. With that said I really like the look of the half time draw at 6/5. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
