Last weekend Aston Villa lost striker Christian Benteke to a hip injury, it turns out that the injury was worse than first thought and the Belgian striker will be out from 4 -6 weeks. That is a huge loss to Aston Villa and manager Paul Lambert. Although Villa won last week most of their good play this season has revolved around Benteke and the center forward's absence could be catastrohic for his side. Gabby Agbonlahor is also carrying a foot injury and therefore Villa could be without their two best strikers. On Saturday Brad Guzan , the american goalkeeper will need to be at his best as Villa will face an onslaught from a very strong Manchester City team. Aston Villa have lost both of their home games in teh league this term losing 1-0 to Liverpool and 2-1 to Newcastle.
Manchester City are coming into this game after winning their last three games by an aggregate score of 12-1. That included a 4-1 win over cross city rivals Manchester United in a performance that was very impressive last Sunday. Ya Ya toure, Sergio Aguero, Negredo and Nasri all were very good last weekend, Ya Ya toure in particular gave an exhibition of how to play football and dominated his Manchester United counterparts. I expect Manuel Pelligrini's side to get on the board early here and put Aston Villa under huge pressure from the off.
I see nothing other than a comfortable Manchester City win here. From the offset this season though Aston Villa have confounded me, brilliant against Arsenal and Chelsea, unlucky against Liverpool, awful against Newcastle and lucky against Norwich. It has been a mixed bag for Villa since the season started but I just cant see the Villians pulling off a shock here. I'm taking Manchester City -1 on the handicap as they have been scoring so freely the last three games and with such attacking talent as aguero, negredo Dzeko and Toure. This could get ugly for Villa. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
