Celtic played their hearts out in the first game of the Champions League against Milan and were desperately unlucky to lose the game. In the end they fell 2-0 but there is no doubting that it was a closer game than the scoreline and Milan were very lucky to end up with a win. Celtic manager Neil Lennon will be looking to continue Celtic's impressive form against Barcelona, the Scottish champions split the two game series against Barcelona last year winning 2-1 at home and losing 2-1 away but Celtic actually led the away game for 85 minutes. Celtic seem to have a way of playing extremely well against these bigger teams and Barcelona in particular have struggled against Celtic's all action style. There will be an amazing atmosphere tomorrow night in Celtic Park and we should expect Samaras to put in a hug effort up front alongside inform striker Anthony Stokes with support coming from the midfield in the form of Brown and Commons. Anthony Stokes could be the key for Celtic as the Irish man is playing exceptional football this year and has netted four in five games in the league and almost scored a couple of times against Ac Milan.
Barcelona are missing a number of key players tonight but most significantly they will be without Lionel Messi. Barca are a special team but Messi is the key to all that Barcelona do well. Without Messi , especially in Europe, Barca have looked toothless and somewhat beatable and to a degree have no plan B. There is no doubting the strength of Barcelona's squad and Barcelona will still have Xavi, Iniesta, Fabregas , Pedro and new addition Neymar to cause problems for Celtic. But with that said I think Celtic will believe that they can give Barcelona a tough game tonight. I know I have mentioned it alread but the atmosphere in Celtic Park to be absolutely mind blowing and it is one of the places that players from all clubs appreciate playing in. Last year when Celtic beat Barcelona 2-1 the noise in the stadium was deafening, the party atmosphere continued on into the night and Glasgow was well and truly rocked. Can De Ja Vue happen tonight?
I might be mad but I think Celtic can get a result here and maybe just maybe create another memorable Champions League night. I'm taking Celtic +1 on the handicap at almost 2/1, its a ridiculously good price for a team that has proven ,at home at least, that they can play with the big boys. Celtic may not create enough to win but I do think they frustrate and "get amongst" the Barcelona players. With Barcelona also missing Puyol and Messi I think there is enough omens pointing to the hoops to take Celtic +1 here. Will also have a small bet on Celti outright at +900.
