A week to forget for Manchester City, first a give away game against Aston Villa in which City led twice only to end up on the wrong side of a 3-2 defeat. Then Joe Hart had a nightmare and Bayern Munich absolutely played Manchester City off the park. Manuel Pelliirini is claiming that his side has deserved more points at this stage given their performanes and you know he might be right. Aston Villa's first goal was offside and City should have been out of sight by the time the momentum shift switched. But the truth of the matter is goals win games and Manchester City have not been taking their chances away from home. With a strike force containing Sergio Aguero, Eden Dzeko, Negredo and Jovetich there is no reason that Manchester City should be struggling in front of goal. David Silva is back tomorrow and could start in midfield alongside Ya Ya Toure and Samir Nasri. Silva is a special talent and Manchester City will be hoping the brilliant Spaniard can be the spark the team has missed in his absence.
The only unbeaten team left in the Premier League is Everton and Roberto Martinez men are also in the lofty position of fourth. The deadline day additions of Lukaku, McCarthy and Gareth Barry have proven to be inspired decisions although Barry will not be eligible in this game as Manchester City are his parent club and as such he cannot play against City under the terms of the loan deal. The Toffee's though were irrisistable on Monday night in the first half against Newcastle and with Lukaku playing so well Everton will be a handful for any team.
This is a game that Manchester City really need to put in a good performance, after two bad losses the Sky Blues will be looking to get the win here and the all important three points. Everton have won three games in a row and are going to present a good challenge here and definitely wont roll over at the Ethiad Arena. But with that said Manchester City have been quite brilliant at home, winning all three of their home games and scoring ten goals in the process. That also included a 4-1 drubbing of their cross city rivals Manchester United. I like City to get a win here in what should be an interesting game, the bookmakers I think have over reacted to the two losses and at 7/10 Manchester City represent some real value. Possibly the best value of the weekend. Take Manchester City to win. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
