So I start yet another Chelsea article with apositive spin on Fernando Torres, the Spanish striker has in recent weeks looked back to his best. There have been many false dawns though with Torres form since he came to Chelsea and I have probably written more about it than most. However, a few games back against Tottenham something clicked with Torres at the start of the second half and he was terrific until his sending off. Torres looked fast and dangerous every time he got possession and that is exactly what chelsea need. Jose Mourhino though is starting to make his mark on Chelsea again as the team has become defensively profficient and have won every home game in the Premier League since his return. Mourhino is famous for making his home ground a fortress no matter where he manages and he is looking to do the same with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. With Ivanovich, Terry, Luiz and Cole to go in front of Cech there is a solid building blocks for Mourhino to go with that Chelsea have one of the best midfields in Europe with Oscar, Hazard, Mata, Lampard and Mikel and they will need to be good tomorrow when they come up against Ya YA Toure and co from Manchester City.
In recent weeks there is no doubt that Manchester City have addressed their deficiencies away from home and Pelligrini has changed things around and found a more balanced formation for away games. Sergio Aguero has shown the type of form he brought to the league two years ago when City won the league title and has scored five in his last three games. Ya Ya Toure has been a monster in midfield up and down the park and providing the inspiration needed, along with David Silva they are the true creators in City's side. Vincent Kompany the City captain is still out with an injury and there is no doubt they miss his leadership at the back but at the moment Nastasich, Kolorov and Zabaleta are playing well as a back three, will they be able to handle Chelsea's potent midfield though?
There is no doubt that this is the game of the weekend in the Premier League and it is an intriguing fixture. Quite often these big games between the big sides end up being low scoring tight affairs. Tomorrow though I think the combination of Chelsea's midfield and Torres and with City's midfield and Aguero, Negredo and Dzeko up front that we will see goals. I'm going to take over 2.5 goals in this one. I will have a pick on who wins the game outright in the Premium section. Follow me on twitter @ antonpippo
