Manchester United are officially in trouble, the team has lost its fourth game midweek against Everton and are now twelve points behind Arsenal in the league table. That in itself is not a disaster but they are eight points behind Manchester City and Chelsea and that in itself is a disaster. David Moyes now really has his work cut out not only to get back in the title hunt but to finish in the top four and guarantee Champions League football next season. Kagawa is not pulling the strings in midfield and is struggling to assert himself in the team. Rooney while playing inspired football is missing the natural predator that is Van Persie. United are really struggling in front of goal without the dutch striker and given that Wayne Rooney will be suspended for the game against Newcastle this could be the chance for Hernandez to lead the line. Januzai and Wellbeck will no doubt get a shot too and may both start although the young albanian could probably do with a few games rest after having a whirlwind start to life at the top.
Newcastle United come into this game having won four of their last five, that includes wins at Tottenham and at home against Chelsea. The Magpies were flying until last time out against Swansea. Alan Pardew will be hoping that was just a blip in the form and the team can get back to impressive performances when they visit Old Trafford. Tim Krull was named player of the month for November and the Newcastle goalkeeper was sublime in the games against Chelsea and Tottenham. Loic Remy has been superb of late and Newcastle look like a team capable of playing against anyone at times. But three of those four wins were at home and Newcastle's away form has been patchy at best (three wins and four losses) but right now is probably the best possible time to be traveling to Old Trafford to take on an out of sorts Manchester United.
We hit a loser on Wednesday night when backing the overs in the Manchester United v Everton game but it really was a game that should have went over easy. I'm going to take the overs again here. Again I just think Manchester United are due a few goals and they will have to take some of the chances that they are creating. United hit the woodwork on four occasions against Everton and Tim Howard pulled off a couple of amazing saves. I think Newcastle are definitely capable of getting a goal too and I'm pretty confident that this one goes over. Take the overs and cash a winner. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
