The meeting of Cardiff abd Southampton is an interesting game to handicap. We have two teams that are in patchy form at best but the away side , Southampton, who havent won in six are favoured against a home side, Cardiff City, who have been decent at home all season and who have taken four points off Manchester City and Manchester United. Overall Cardiff are also in a rough patch and there is some doubts over whether Manager Malcolm Mackay will be there much longer with the Cardiff City owner issuing what appeared to be a quit or be sacked ultimatum last week. Cardiff though have performed well at home with aforementioned wins over Manchester City and a draw with the Champions Manchester United. Frazer Campbell, Craig Bellamy and Peter Odemwingie appear to be the main threats going forward although alot of Cardiff's bright spots have come in midfield with the impressive Jordan Mutch , Medel and Kim doing the business for the bluebirds.
Southampton at one point were in the top four and looking very strong after beating Liverpool and takng points off Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United. The team play a great brand of passing football under manager Pochettino but of late they just have not been getting the bounce of the ball, losing four of the last six and drawing the other two. Southampton have put together a really good squad of young exciting players with Rodriguez, lallana, Ward Prowse, Wanyama and the older heads of Lambert and Osvaldo linking well with the young guns.
I see alot of love going towards a big priced home underdog here and some of it makes sense. Cardiff have been decent at home and at 12/5 there definitely is some value there. I'm taking Cardiff +1 at evens, I think Southampton are playing without alot of confidence of late and this was evident against Tottenham where they got bqack into the game twice comign from behind but never looked like pushing on and getting the win. Cardiff do represent the value here and I'm taking them on the handicap. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
