Cant ask for much more from the Premier League fixtures list that two top clubs kicking off the early afternoon game on a week which will see two sets of fixtures take place. Liverpool will be looking to keep their fantastic home record(third in the league table) in tact when they host leaders Arsenal. Of course Liverpool will also be looking for some semblence of revenge from a 2-0 loss at the Emirates back in early November a game that highlighted some of the deficiencies in Liverpool's squad depth. Daniel Sturridge and Luis Suarez will look to continue their deadly partnership when they face the second best defence in the league. The key for the strike duo of course will be the work of Stephen gerrard and Philip Counthino in midfield if that pair can get on enough ball to create chances then surely Sturridge and Suarez will find the net, maybe even a couple of times. Anfield will be buzzing for this top of the table clash and the home crowd will act like a twelfth man, if the reds can win this game they could legitimately announce themselves as real title contenders.
Arsenal will approach this game with some caution I would imagine, a draw at Anfield would not be the worst result for the Gunners as they look to consolidate their position at the top of the league table. A very good season has been punctuated with some terrific performances both at home and away and Arsenal do possess the best away record in the league of course they have yet to play alot of the top seven clubs and have lost in both of their big games away to Manchester City and Manchester United. But Arsenal have plenty of talent and the return to fitness(and form) of Alex Oxlade Chamberlain will be an added bonus as he netted twice last weekend. With Ozil, Giroud, Cazorla and the Ox there will be plenty to trouble Liverpool's somewhat porous defence.
Something has got to give as one of the best home records meets one of the best away records, or does it? Personally I think we see a stalemate here, I also think we see goals as both teams look better offensively than defensively. I'm taking the draw on this one at big odds and those looking for a more surefire thing should take the overs. A punt on a 2-2 draw may reap alot of rewards for those looking for a big payout.
