Monaco have been terrific since being promoted and Claudio Ranieri's side's home form has been most impressive. Without star striker Ramadal Falcao, Monaco are expected to fall away but they went out and got Dimitar Berbatov in the transfer market and there is no doubting Berbatov's talent, the French League is also slower and less full on that the English league this may just suit Berbatov's talents. With Riviere and Berbatov up front and Mouthino in midfield there is no reason Monaco cant continue their solid league form an push PSG all the way in the chase for the title. At the back there is solid and experienced defenders in Abidal and Carvalhyo. tomorro's game in Monaco though could go along way to deciding the title if PSG win.
Paris St Germain will no doubt have one eye on the Champions League as it returns in two weeks and one of their top players Edison cavani is currently strugglign with an injury. But PSG have lots of strength in depth, splashing out in teh January window to bring in Johan Cabaye, Laurent Blanc's options in midfield just got stronger. Although goals havebeen an issue for PSG of late and they are heavily reliant on the brilliant Zlatan Ibrahimovich. Question is can he carry the burden on his broad shoulders alone? The game with Monaco will be testy I think and it will be interesting to see if Ibrahimovich can keep his well known temper under control.
I feel like this game should be a coinflip and I dont understand the bookmakers pricing of the game but at 11/5 Monaco appeal to me as avalue bet. I like what Monaco have been doing this season and they have proven to be really tough to beat, especially at home where they have only lost once all season. PSG have been lacklustre of late struggling to impose themselves for long periods and although Falcao is a huge loss for monaco I still think Ranieri's team can at least contain PSG and possibly pull off a shock. I'm going with Monaco +1 on the handicap and spreading a little on Monaco moneyline as well. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
