A match of huge significants not just to both clubs involved but to the rest of the league as well. Chelsea will play host to Arsenal having played a game midweek in the Champions League, defeating Galatasaray and progressing to the last eight of the competition. Jose Mourhino , famous for his mind games, has been at it again midweek suggesting his team is not favourites to win the title. Mourhino was sent to the stands last weekend in his teams loss to Aston Villa but the blues biggest loss from that game will be Ramires who will miss three matches through suspension starting at home to Arsenal this weekend. Stamford Bridge was an emotional place on Tuesday night as the Chelsea crowd welcomed an old hero in Didier Drogba, but there will be a morehostile atmosphere on Saturday morning as the blues host an age old enemy in Arsenal. Samuel Eto, Eden Hazard and Oscar will be the key to unlocking Arsenal's defence but I think the game on Saturday may be more of a war of attrition than a free flowing football match.
The Gunners will arrive in Chelsea well rested ahead of a four match span that will decide their season in the Premier League this tough fixture with Chelsea is followed by home games with Swansea and Manchester City and then an away trip to Everton. Win all four an Arsenal will have given themselves a realistic chance of a league title but its a tough ask. In fact Arsenal and Arsene Wenger may look at a point in this fixture against Chelsea as a good result. I expect Wenger to play more of a contained game so as not to ship an early goal and will probably play five across the midfield to crowd out the space for Hazard and Oscar. Giroud will be the focal point up top for Arsenal and Rosicky, Oxlade Chamberlain and Cazorla will be the chief creators especially with Ozil, Ramsey and Wilshire missing through injury.
A great match up to kick off the weekend football but I am not so sure we will see a great game. I expect this one to be tight and fiercely competitive. I dont see may goals on the horizon either as both Wenger and Mourhino may take a cautious approach here. I'm going to back the draw at half time at 6/5. I think the game will probably open up in the second half but this one could be more of a stale mate than a free flowing action packed blockbuster. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
