Robin van Persie netted a hat trick on Wednesday night as Manchester United overturned a 2-0 deficit in the Champions League to defeat Olympiakos and qualify for the quarter final. Ultimately though Van Persie was injured at the end of the game and looks set to miss not only this game but Tuesday's Manchester derby as well. The absence of Van Persie will allow Moyes to play Wellbeck and Rooney through the center and Mata just off the front two with Valencia on the wing and januzai on the other side. Manchester United have not had much luck on recent visits to West Ham having only won one of the last four trips to Upton Park. David Moyes will be hoping his side can be inspired by the terrific result against Olympiakos and that the team can put in more consistant performances in the league.
West Ham will be looking to Andy Carroll and Kevin Nolan to exploit the weakness' in the Manchester United rearguard that have been apparent all season. Sam Allardyce will know his side can compete with the best of them at home and will have no fear playing against a Manchester United team that have been ridiculously inconsistant. West Ham have only conceded one goal in their last three home league games and will look to build on that to push further up the league table. Having looked at the stats it would appear to me that West Ham are undervalued here and a big price for a home team thats won its last three home games and looked quite useful in that time span.
I'm not sold on this game, I do think that West Ham are undervalued but I also think that Manchester United may push on from their midweek win and get themselves back on track in the league. There is no chance of Manchester United taking this challenge lightly and I think both teams will be up for it, although West Ham have been really solid defensively and Manchester United showed an ability to defend on Wednesday night I think that there will be goals in this game. The last four games between the two in upton park has gone above the 2.5 mark and thats what I am going for here all be it a small bet. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
