What a season for Liverpool football club, considered also rans before the season kicked off Liverpool have been contenders since week one. Brendan Rodgers the Liverpool manager has done a terrific job in transforming the clubs fortunes. The key this season though has been Liverpool's strikeforce Suarez and Sturridge have scored over fifty goals between them and Suarez will surely set a new Premier League record with twenty nine goals scored and five games to get three or more goals. Suarez has been terrific all season and will win the Player of the year awards no matter what happens over the next five games. Interestingly in the two tight games Liverpool have played captain Stephen Gerrard has stepped up to be counted and has scored four goals in the last five games. Liverpool have been terrific to watch this year, Rodgers teams play a possession based fast paced game that is just entertaining.
For Manchester City the breakdown is simple draw or beat Liverpool , win the rest of their games and they are Champions. Manuel Pelligrini's team are on an impressive run themselves, everyone is mentioning Liverpool's nine game winning streak which is very impressive but Manchester City have only lost once in their last twenty games. With a strike force to rival Liverpools with Aguero possibly fit enough to take his place on the bench, there is absolutely no shortage of talent in Manchester City's squad. David Silva, Ya Ya toure, Negredo, Jovetich and Dzeko will take the fight to Liverpool on Sunday morning and I think that this game may be more open than most people are expecting.
We have two of the best goalscoring teams in the league, who have scored the most and second most this season. Liverpool's attack has been unstoppable at home and Mancheste City are averaging two of more away in their last nine away games. I think its just obvious that we take the overs here. Sunday is going to be an emotional game for Liverpool, its the twenty fifth anniversary of the Hillsborough tragedy when 96 Liverpool fans lost their lives seven minutes into an FA Cup semi final at the Hillsborough stadium. All of the games in England will start seven minutes later than slated as a mark of respect and Anfield will be an emotionally charged stadium. If Liverpool can pull off a win on Sunday the roof (if Anfield had one)may well come off the stadium. I'm taking the overs here though in a game that I hope will be as fun to watch as I am expecting.
