Its simple for Liverpool, win and hope Manchester City lose. So the reds must take care of their own part of that scenario when they face Newcastle United in Anfield. A terrific season either way for Liverpool will come to a close on Sunday ina year when the reds werechasing Champions League football they ended up leading a title chase for the last couple of months and were it not for a couple of bad games back to back in the last two outings then Liverpool would surely be lifting the title on Sunday. Mind you its still possible. Liverpool need to win though first and captain Stephen Gerrard and player of the year Luis Suarez will lead the way for the reds. Suarez has scored thirty one goals in thirty one games this season and one more goal will set a premier league record. With the pace of Daniel Sturridge and Raheem Sterling I thinktomorrow could be a longday for Newcastle.
Alan Pardew was back on the sideline last weekend for Newcastle United and the magpies manager did seem to make a difference as the black and whites dominated Cardiff City with goals from Ameobi and Remy to go with a nintyith minute goal from Taylor. Remy when fit this season has been a sensation. Its tough to fault his ability and surely the french international, on loan from QPR, will move to a big side in the summer. Talk abounds of Arsene Wengers interest in Remy and that move would not surprise me. Newcastle though were better last week and the Newcastle fans deserved that outing, having seen their team lose six in a row prior to the 3-0 win.
One of the only league games with real meaning this weekend and I'm going with the overs here in what is probably my strongest pick in the Premier League's last weekend of fixtures. Liverpool have generally been money at home and seven of their last eight home games have gone over the 2.5 mark. Newcastle themselves have been involved in games with goals recently and six of the last seven Newcastle games have gone over 2.5 goals. I'm taking the over and looking forward to a game that should be full of goals and attacking play. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
