In the first World Cup matchup on Tuesday, Algeria and Belgium will take the field for their first game of the tournament.
Belgium is one of the dark horses to win this tournament and certainly has the talent to get the job done. With this being their 12th World Cup appearance, Belgium is an experienced squad and very dangerous with the amount of playmakers at their disposal. To better Belgium’s chances of winning, Romelu Lukaku is expected to play in this match despite an eye injury he suffered against Tunisia. You really have to pick your poison with Belgium, as Eden Hazard has scored 30 goals in his last two season with Chelsea and Nacer Chadli is another young player who can take over a game. Belgium is a young team with a strong midfield and one of the better offensive attacks in the tournament. Watch out.

This is Algeria’s fourth World Cup appearance, and their last time qualifying in 2010, they failed to score a single goal. Still, Algeria did beat Ivory Coast only a week ago and has been on a solid winning streak, winning 12 of their last 13 matches leading up to this one. There aren’t many household names with Algeria, but Islam Slimani is a goal scoring machine when it comes to playing international soccer. Slimani has scored 10 goals since 2012 with the national team. Madjid Bougherra is an experienced player and a solid defender for Algeria. This is a confident bunch that lacks star power.
It’s no secret that Belgium is the better team and will likely win this game with no problem. However, there’s no value in taking Belgium to win.
That’s why I’m going with the over. Belgium has enough star power to possibly score three goals by themselves. This match could get ugly.
