The Dutch look to build on their incredible tournament opening win against Spain as they take on Australia on Wednesday.
Australia head into Wednesday’s encounter with Holland looking to play spoiler and to keep their bid at advancing to the knockout stage alive with a victory but they will be in tough against a team coming off one of the most impressive victories in World Cup history. The Aussies opened up against a tough side from Chile and while the South Americans didn’t have their best effort and conceded the first goal it was enough to get through an Australian team that many have going home after the group stage. Australia has cemented themselves as perennial qualifiers for international competition and while their glory days have passed they are still a proud squad that will certainly give maximal effort, especially against some of the world’s best sides which they see here in the Netherlands.

The Dutch were spectacular in victory as they blasted the two time defending Euro and defending World Cup Champions from Spain to the tune of a 5-1 final that sent shockwaves around the world. The Netherlands have always been a great side and have some of the best players in the world donning the orange but this year’s team was considered to be a bit of a let down by some as they were scrutinized for having too few play makers. Not only did they answer the bell they did it in spectacular fashion as Robin van Piersie and Arjen Robben each netted two goals apiece and their dominance in the midfield set the tone for what they hope will be a convincing second contest here against the Aussies. I am a little worried about this contest as the Dutch should win with confidence but could be susceptible to a letdown against a side looking to re-establish itself as an international power. However, I think this Dutch team is loaded with confidence now and I think they get the win but I do think it comes in a much lower scoring manner as I see a 2-0 final here for Oranje.
