In the first game against Chile Australia put up a good performance, the end result may have been 3-1 but the game was alot closer than that. Tim Cahill agains showed his class for the Australians, scoring their goal and being an all round nuisance for the Chileans for the entire game. Australia had some very impressive performers in Leckie and Cahill , Bresciano was his usual dependable self and Milligan and Jedinak put in a shift but they are going to have their work cut out staying with a top class dutch midfield.
The performance of the World Cup so far was the Netherlands 5-1 win over current Champions Spain. The dutch were brilliant for the majority of the game, harassing and harrying the Spainish when not in possession and cool and calm when they had the ball. Attacking in waves the dutch exploited any weakness they saw and Robin Van Persie and Arjen Robben jumped on a couple of mistakes to put the champions to the sword. A semblence of revenge for the World Cup Final defeat for years ago the dutch will now be looking to win this group and they will want to beat Australia well and not take the foot of the gas now.
I expect a good open game here and I think that the Australians showed enough in the game against Chile to put up a fight here and maybe even get on the scoresheet. But overall I think the dutch are going to be far too strong and the trifecta of Sneijder, Robben and Van Persie will eventually prove too much for the Australian backline.
