Ivory Coast and Colombia will meet up Thursday afternoon in the 2014 World Cup, sending the winner on to the round of 16.
Ivory Coast had one of the most impressive victories in the opening rounds in a 2-1 victory over Japan. Not because they played great the entire game, but because they scored twice within 99 seconds to seal the victory and break Japan’s hearts. The good news is that Ivory Coast did do a wonderful job of attacking Japan on the offensive end and could have easily had more than the two magical goals it scored near the end of the match. Considering the game changed the minute Didier Drogba stepped on the field, there’s a good chance you’re going to see more of him in this match.

Colombia has a good chance to become the first South American team to advance past the group stages since 1990. They took a huge step forward in the first match with a 3-0 win over Greece. However, Colombia has mixed up its style of play on the fly. Usually an aggressive team that’s looking to control the pace, Colombia played a passive game against Greece and let the plays come to them by capitalizing off of mistakes. This paid off in the first game, but adjusting to opponents and playing in an uncomfortable way could come back to bite this young squad. We may see a more aggressive Columbia team and Teófilo Gutiérrez should have another big game.
With so much on the line, I expect defense to take over and not a lot of goals to go into the net. Both of these teams are eager to make history and jitters may take over for much of the first half.
This should be a 1-0 or 2-0 matchup, which makes the under the play here.
