So many intriguing aspects to this game Luis Suarez fitness is key to Uruguay's chances , the brilliant Liverpool striker has that ability to create something from nothing and looking at the service that Cavani and Forlan got in the game against Costa Rica he may very well have to do it all on his own. Uruguay really struggled in midfield to both pass the ball well and create anything for their center forward. Cavani ran tirelessly throughout the game but became more and more frustrated as the game wore on. Suarez and Cavani together would be a handful for any team but Forlan looked like his legs were gone. A great player in his day he is obviously at the end of his career and Tabarez may be better off using Forlan as an impact sub.Another problem for Uruguay may be their lack of pace at the back, facing Sturridge, Sterling, Rooney and Wellbeck may be a nightmare for Uruguay captain Diego Lugano and Godin.
England took alot of positives out of the loss to Italy. Raheem Sterling was impressive in his first World Cup game, Daniel Sturridge scored and Wayne Rooney provided that key pass. While Rooney was not at his best he was out of position on the left and surely Roy Hodgeson goes with a 4-4-2 formation on Thursday and allows Rooney and Sturridge to play through the center with Wellbeck and Sterling on the wings? If he does and if he allows Gerrard to be the holding midfielder then this England side could produce some fireworks against a Uruguay team that really struggled against Costa Rica.
A major key to this game will be if Suarez plays and if he is fit. All the signs from the Uruguay cmp is that he will be 100% and he will fancy his chances against Jagielka and Cahill. That said England to me look like they have just as much ability to createchances, the only question i can Sturridge and or Rooney finish those chances. If Rooney plays through the center I think he will find the net and I think England will win but if Hodgson persists with Rooney on the left then we may see another stop tart performance from the Manchester United player. I'm liking the over here either way, i think both teams have an advantage offensively and I think we see at least three goals here. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
