Algeria are in the promised land of the knockout stages of the World Cup, a truly magnificent achievement for the team and one head coach Halilhomidic should be applauded for many years. It all started with a terrific performance against Belgium, one that Algeria were desperately unlucky to lose but the signs were there, a big win over South Korea and then a draw with Russia was enough to send the Algerians through to the knockout stages and produce one of the shocks of the tournament. A hardworking side that like to pass it on the ground Algeria will have to up the level again if they are to play with the Germans. Bentalab, Feghouli and Soudami will be the key players if Algeria are to take the fight to Germany but I have a feeling we will see the underdogs go out and play a containing game.
There are many great players in this Germn squad but to date one of the so called modern donkeys has been the key, Thomas Muller is conventional as other great number nines in days gone past. Strong, physical , with an eye for goal Muller has been the focal point for pretty much everything that Germany have done going forward. Can the Bayern Muncih striker continue that form here against a dogged Algerian defence? With Ozil, Podolski, Kroos, Lahm nd Schwiensteiger there is enough to think that Algeria may just crumple if Germany get on top.

I think that Germany are good, really good. They have just done enough in two of their three games but that was allowed by the 4-0 anhilation of Portugal. On a whole this is a very strong German team who have fast and capable midfield. I do think there will be chances at the back for Algeria if they can get down the wings. Ghana showed how to challenge and worry Germany by attacking through the center with pace. For these reasons I am taking the over here. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
