Brazil looks to inch closer to their pre-tournament goals with a victory over a Colombian side that has played like the best team in the tournament.
Colombia looks to pull off the unthinkable and defeat the hosts from Brazil in the World Cup quarterfinals in what would surely mark one of the biggest upsets and shockers in football history. Colombia advanced as group winners in what was a complete destruction of their counterparts and in their round of 16 match against Uruguay they demonstrated why they should be considered a favourite to not only win this match but the whole tournament. James Rodriguez has been the talk of the tournament and his volley to open the scoring against Uruguay to me is the goal of the tournament and there will have to be something just as special to even consider eclipsing it of that title but it is on the biggest stage where some of the best markers happen. Colombia have been in the conversation of world football greats for some time but often get overlooked on a continent with Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, and Chile but with one of their rivals already falling victim there is a great chance of another here in the form of Brazil.

Brazil has another opportunity to send the host nation into frenzy on Friday as they play the second match of the day following Germany-France but they’ll have to take down a solid Colombian side in the process. The Brazilians lucked out in getting to this spot as they were pushed to the brink against a very good Chilean side that probably deserved a much better fate based on their efforts in the round of 16 match up but a battle tested side that has spot kick experience can make the difference the further along you are. Brazil hasn’t looked overly impressive in any of their matches to be honest aside from their final group stage win over a Cameroon team that should have stayed home and even though they defeated Chile I think we could have very easily seen a different outcome. This game is going to be very exciting to watch and while the hosts are huge favourites I don’t understand why and as such I am going to Colombia to win this match and advance to the semifinals.
