What a match up we have in the second quarter final on the 4tg of July. Brazil hosts and pre tournament favourites come face to face with Colombia who have arguably been the most impressive teams in the tournament thus far and who have James Rodriguez who has arguably been the best player in the tournament thus far. Brazil have alot of pressure on their shoulders being hosts and one of the favourites they also have a huge weight of expectation from the home crowd. Brazil is expected to win this World Cup. With the exception of Neymar though none of Brazil's other stars have performed. Oscar, Willian, Hulk and Fred have all been quiet. While Neymar has done his part up front and Thiago Silva has been excellent at the back but Brazil have not come up against a team as good as Colombia yet.
Colombia have been terrific and people should remember that this is without Ramadal Falcao how good would they be with him? Frighteningly good is the answer. James Rodriguez has announced himself on the world stage, the youngster was already highly thought of before this world cup with Monaco spending big money to bring him to Ligue1. Marshalled defensively by Yepes, Zapata and Armero and with a star studded midfield of Rodriguez, Guarin, Quadrado and with Jackson Martinez up front this is a really well balanced team. Jose Peckerman led Argentina to the quarter final of the World Cup in 2006 only to come up short against the home side Germany, can he go one better here and lead Colombia past Brazil and into a semi final?
I liked Chile +1 against Brazil last round and again I like the underdog here. In fact the reality is that Colombia are the better side here and should win outright but getting a +1 head start at better than evens there is no way I can pass this up! Take Colombia +1. Follow me on Twitter@antonpippo
