Neither France nor Germany were overly impressive in the last round but France did have the added advantage of qualifying in 90 minutes where as Germany played a 120 minute game in extreme heat. The Germans were far from impressive in front of goal against Algeria and gave up some really good chances at the back, which was out of character for Joachim Lowe's side. German fans will be hoping that game was just a blip as the squad Germany has is full of top class players and have to fancy their chances of going all the way now. Thomas Muller, Mezut Ozil and Toni Kroos will be the keys going forward and with Podolski now injured Andre Schurrle could take a significant role in the rest of this tournament for the Germans. Manuel Neur pulled off some terrific saves against Algeria and has actually been busy in every game as the German defence seems to be giving up more chances to the opposition.
France have definitely impressed so far in this tournament and have been led by star man Karim Benzema, the Real Madrid star has shun in the spotlight and he looks likely to be the biggest threat to Germany. WIth a star studded midfield France will be hoping the Juventus star Paul Pogba can continue his good form alongside Matuidi, Sissoko and Cabaye. France are another team that are missing their star player as Frank Ribery missed the tournament with a back injury. But Didier Deschamps has assembled a strong squad that is focused on the team rather than the individual and to be honest I have to admire Deschamps stance on Nasri now and I have to admit it looks like the gamble is paying off. France are playing as a team and are all fighting for each other.
I think the value on this game is in backing France but I am not sure that is going to be a winning bet. There is no doubt in my mind that this should be a pk em so therefore for value reasons we should take France. However I am all about winning and I think the Draw is the way to go here. I would play France +.5 on the handicap and play the draw moneyline. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
