~While I understood the necessity to get International squads together and to play games together regularly enough to be aquainted I can not understand why this break happens three weeks into most of the Leagues new seasons. Why not have these games in early August? Anyway this friendly will see a youthful German squad take on an Argentina team that will definitely be without star man Lionel Messi who was replaced in the squad by Eric Lamela after Messi suffered a "slight hamstring strain" which is code for Barcelona do not want him playing friendlies.
This will be nothing more than a showpiece game and although some of the World Cup final starting elevens may be involved it will mostly be bench players or young untried and untested players who get a game. While it should be entertaining to watch I will not be recommending putting much of your hard earned cash on this game. Especially with qualifiers coming up this weekend and next week. There is a chance that we see some goals here tonight though as the inexperience of both squads could lead to some defensive lapses and no doubt the strikers on display, such as Tottenham's Lamela will be eager to make a mark on the occasion.
Small fancy for over 2.5 goals is my only recommendation here. Sit back and enjoy seeing the youth of Argentina and Germany battle for places in their Copa America and Euro 2016 squads. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
