The Line: See the Latest Odds

Brazil and Colombia will square off Friday at Sun Life Stadium in an international friendly matchup.

This should be an interesting matchup as it’s a rematch from a World Cup quarterfinals match that Brazil won, 2-1. However, there have been some key changes since Brazil was eliminated from the contest in embarrassing fashion. Brazil was pretty much forced to let go of head coach Luiz Felipe Scolari after being beat down into the ground in front of its home fans, and has decided to give it another go with Dunga. Dunga led Brazil back in 2010 before stepping down and being heavily criticized by some of the countrys fans and former players. Neymar, who suffered a severe back injury in the World Cup, is healthy and expected to participate in this matchup.

Brazil vs. Colombia International Friendlies Pick, Odds, Prediction - 9/5/14

Witters Sport-USA TODAY Sports

Colombia was one of the biggest stories in the World Cup, making a deeper run than most expected and giving Brazil everything it had before finally falling. Colombia heads into this match with 21 of the 23 players who helped the country make it’s improbable run, including James Rodriguez, who was incredible in the tournament and scored the World Cups best goal in a match against Uruguay. Manchester United’s latest pickup in Radamel Falcao, who missed the World Cup with a knee injury, will also participate in this match.  When healthy, Falcao is one of the best strikers in the game, and will help give Colombia another offensive weapon the team lacked against such a dangerous Brazil club.

Both teams could use this match as a confidence boost. Brazil needs something to erase the horrible memories of the World Cup, while Colombia would like to get revenge on the way things ended against Brazil.

Overall, I see this game going either way and being a hard fought match, which forces me to take the side where there’s value. I’ll take Colombia for the victory.
