Hope can not be under estimated when it comes to an International team and the appointment of Martin O'Neill with Roy Keane as his assistant had instilled a real sense of hope for all Republic of Ireland fans. While some of these hopes may have been realistically tempered , especially after being drawn in the same group as reigning FIFA World Cup Champions Germany. But the Republic of Ireland have always performed above their individual ability and over achieved in general. This current squad does contain some serious talent though with Everton's Seamus Coleman and Aiden Mcgeady, Hull's Meyler and Brady and Southampton's Shane long not to mention Robbie Keane and Kevin Doyle. So overall maybe Martin O'Neill has actually inherited quite a talented young squad and the future may well be bright for the boys in green.
Georgia have proven to be a tough nut to crack in every qualifying game for the World Cup as in eight games they lost by a goal in two games, drew two games lost by two goals on three occasions and won one game. Overall it shows that this side is going in the right direction especially when you consider that both Spain and France were in that qalifying group. Last time these two team met the Republic of Ireland won four nil although that was after the Georgian keeper was sent off after twenty minutes.
Its hard to see too many goals in this game unless someone gets a man sent off early. Georgia have gone under 2.5goals in all of their last seven fixtures, Ireland themselves have gone under in four of their last seven. I think Martin O'Neill will be sure to not lose this game and therefore may be a little defensive in his approach. This game could be a model for a 0-0 draw. Either way I am taking the under.
