One of the shocks of qualifying thus far was Polands 2-0 win over Germany on Saturday night but it was a well deserved victory. Germany were lacklustre and downright awful in front of goal and Poland were clinical scoring on both of their shots on target with Ajax starlet Milik netting the first. Robert Lewandowski will still be the key guy for Poland but the addition of Milik to the squad is one that will have raised hopes among Polish fans. Blaszczykowski will still need to be at his best in the midfield and I feel like this game will be one in which Poland have alot of posession and will have to break down a stubborn Scotland defence. Lewandowski will be key up front but his partnership with Milik is growing game by game and these two will be a tough proposition for the Scotland back four.
Scotland beat Georgia by a solitary goal at home on Saturday an own goal as it turns out and it is up front that the scots are really struggling. Stephen Naismith has had a terrific start to the season for Everton but he is not an out and out striker prefering to play behind the main number nine. Scotlands problems thus far is that Stephen Fletcher has had a tough start to the season with Sunderland and his lack of confidence is transfering to the international scene. The midfield diamond of Brown, Maloney, Morrison and Anya will be key to providing protection for the back four and Brown in particular will be at the heart of defending for Gordon Strachans men. Can the Celtic captain continue his terrific form against a really good Polish side?
All in all I think Poland's win against Germany is being somewhat underestimated here. Scotland were valiant in defeat to the Germans in the opening round of games but were far from impressive on Saturday against Georgia. It could be a case that Scotland failed to rise to the occasion but a trip to Poland to take on a team that is full of confidence and coming into this game off a victory over the World Champions can not be an easy task. I fancy Poland here and at 10/11 I think the bookmakers have this one wrong. I do think it will be a tight game and there wont be much between the sides but getting that price on Poland at home will be enough for me to take this on. Follow me on twitter@antonpippo
