With Real Madrid already qualified for the knockout stages their trip to Basel means more to the hosts than the 10 times Champions League winners Real Madrid. Basel come into this game in fine form having won 5 in a row. Basel were comprehensively beaten 5-1 in Madrid but have since put together wins over Ludogorets and Liverpool and won nine of their last thirteen. With Strellar and Gashi providing the main goalscoring threats , Basel will look to keep this one tight and try to hit Real Madrid on the counter attack.
Few teams could compete with the squad that Real Madrid have assembled, Cristiano Ronaldo, Benzema, Rodriguez as a front three with Modric and Bale in the middle behind them is just scary talent. Carlo Ancelotti's side look unbeatable at times and are on a fourtenn game unbeaten run, which is ridiculous. Cristiano Ronaldo has scored in twelve of those games. Ronaldo has twenty goals in eleven games this season if he continues at this pace he will score sixty goals in a league season. Unheard of and something that proves he and Messi are on a completely different level to the rest of the players on this planet. With Messi scoring a hat trick to break Raul's Champions League record on Tuesday there is no doubt Ronaldo will want to get in on the act tonight and try to catch Messi's new mark.
This could be an interesting game. I think Basel are a decent team and will give Real Madrid a game tonight. There is also a chance that Ancelotti will give some of his top players a rest given that qualification is guaranteed. I am going to take both teams to score here as I see this being an open game.
